Local Cancer Statistics

I've been sent figures by Cancer Research UK on cancer statistics in Sheffield, which show a mixed picture. While Sheffield does well for radiotherapy waiting times (with 99.8% of patients being given radiotherapy within 31 days of first treatment), and the rate of cancer treatment beginning within 62 days exceeds the national average, there is still a lot of work to do.
Nationally, the cancer treatment target has been missed for its third consecutive year, with only 82% of patients being treated within 62 days. This has meant over 70,000 people missing the treatment target in that time, and reflects the enormous pressures the NHS is enduring under this Government.
